Plea to speed up hub work

The memorandum by 17 associations said that though the first stage of the Hub was completed in 2011, it was now moving at a snail’s pace.
“The land acquisition in connection with the project has reached nowhere though the state government allotted `52 crore for this in the last budget. The Metro Rail construction has started much later but it is fast progressing. As banks have agreed to give funds for the project, the unavailability of funds might not be a major issue for the project. It is learnt that efforts are being made to include the project in the JNNURM project which will be a death knell for the Hub project. As it is a viable project, there is a central government directive which says it need not be included in the LNNURM project list,” the memorandum stated. It said that with the traffic regulations in the city, in connection with the Kochi Metro Rail construction, in place it is imperative to provide more facilities at Vyttila Hub. ENS
