Kochi: The season ticket system for regular long distance bus travelers and seat reservation service was also launched during the inauguration function held at Vyttila Mobility Hub in Kochi on Thursday. The observance of bus day also saw 6,000 persons availing the free bus journey on Thursday.

Ace director Sibi Malayil and cine actor Krishna Prabha also attended the function before traveling with legislator Benny Bahanan, district collector P.I. Sheikh Pareeth and city police chief K.G. James for a bus ride from Hub to Maharaja’s College junction.

The director said the bus journey after a long time took him back to his teenage years in Alappuzha when he had to take three boats and four buses to reach Changanassery S.B. College, where he did his graduation. “Bus journeys help you drop the heavy burden of driving or riding through heavy traffics. We can also enjoy sightseeing, which make bus journeys always a pleasure,” he added.

The Collector requested the general public to use the public transport system more often to save the city from traffic congestion and pollution. Various other organisations and corporate houses exhorted their executives and office-bearers to shed their private vehicles and depend on the public transport system. Representatives of various residents associations were also part of the bus journey.
